Data Privacy Policy

1. General
Kärnten Werbung attaches great importance to the privacy of each customer. Personal data are therefore always processed in compliance with the applicable data protection regulations and, in particular, the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which enters into force on 25 May 2018.

2. Data protection on Kärnten Werbung websites
When a user visits these websites, data are collected and then used by Kärnten Werbung for analysis purposes. Such collection serves the following purposes, in particular:

  • Analysing site use for the purpose of market research and optimising website content
  • Adapting site content to suit the users’ needs

  • Remarketing user requests for the purpose of promoting holidays in Carinthia

  • Improving user-friendliness and ease of operation


When a user requests brochures or other information from Kärnten Werbung, all data are processed as received via the data entry form on the website. This is necessary for the processing of the order (GDPR Article 6 (1) (b)), as the order cannot otherwise be carried out (GDPR Article 13 (2) (e)). The relevant data processing for this purpose takes place entirely within the EEA. The data are deleted after 7 years.

3. Cookies

4. Operational principles of social media plug-ins
Kärnten Werbung websites include the plug-ins of three social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. You will recognise such plug-ins by the logos of those services at the bottom of the relevant page. Whenever you visit the websites, a direct link is created between your browser and the server of the social media platform operator. Please note that, as site operators, we have no knowledge of the content of the data that are sent or their use by the relevant platform operators. 5. Right to information and other rights of data subjects
Under the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), due to enter into force on 25 May 2018, you are entitled to receive information on any of your data processed by Kärnten Werbung. 6. Right of revocation
You have the right at any time to revoke your consent to the use of your personal data. If you do so, Kärnten Werbung will stop using your data any further and delete the same in compliance with any legal retention duties.

7. Facebook Conversion Tracking Pixel
By logging onto facebook.com, you give your consent to the Conversion Tracking Pixel service of Facebook, Inc., 1601 S. California Ave., Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). This allows Facebook to track user activities after a user has clicked a Facebook advert and been redirected to a third-party website. In this way Facebook can determine the effectiveness of Facebook advertising for statistical and market research purposes. Any data that are collected in this process remain anonymous. This means that the data of individual users cannot be accessed. Collected data are, however, stored and processed by Facebook. 8. Facebook remarketing/retargeting
The Kärnten Werbung websites contain remarketing tags from the social network Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. When you visit the Kärnten Werbung websites, the remarketing tags establish a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. This enables Facebook to receive information that you have visited our sites from your IP address. As a result, Facebook can associate your visit to the Kärnten Werbung websites with your user account. Kärnten Werbung and its tourism industry partners can use the information received in this way when placing Facebook ads. 9. Google Analytics
Kärnten Werbung uses Google Analytics by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, for web analysis purposes on its websites. The use of this analysis service also involves saving cookies to your computer.
The resulting information, including the IP addresses of visitors, is sent to a server in the United States, where it is then stored. For data protection reasons, Kärnten Werbung uses the function “_anonymizeIP()”, so that the transmitted IP addresses only undergo processing in abbreviated form and do not allow any direct association with individuals.

Kärnten Werbung uses Google Analytics functions to analyse site use, e.g. in the form of anonymised reports and charts on PageViews and Visits and also for remarketing, reports on impressions in the Google Display network, the integration of DoubleClick Campaign Manager and Google Analytics performance reports under demographic criteria and interests. 10. Google AdWords with Conversion Tracking

Kärnten Werbung uses conversion tracking to provide targeted promotion of our site. The legal basis is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the analysis, optimization, and economic operation of our site.

If you click on an ad placed by Google, the conversion tracking we use stores a cookie on your device. These so-called conversion cookies expire after 30 days and do not otherwise identify you personally.

If the cookie is still valid and you visit a specific page of our website, both we and Google can evaluate that you clicked on one of our ads placed on Google and that you were then forwarded to our website.

The data collected in this way is in turn used by Google to provide us with an evaluation of visits to our website and what visitors do once there. 13. Pinterest
The Kärnten Werbung websites use social plug-ins and tags from the Pinterest social network, operated by Pinterest Inc., 651 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA, 94107, USA (“Pinterest”). When you call up a site that contains such a plug-in or tag, your browser establishes a direct connection with Pinterest servers. The plug-in sends log data to a Pinterest server in the United States. Such log data may include your IP address, the addresses of the websites that you have visited and which also contain Pinterest functions, the type of browser you use and its settings, the time and date of your request and the way in which you use Pinterest and cookies.
