Wernberg

The municipality of Wernberg is near Villach, between the lakes Ossiacher See, Wörthersee and Faaker See.

If you want to enjoy the pleasures of summer at close range, you can do so at the Wernberg adventure pool in Föderlach, which covers an area of 8,000 square metres and has a 45-metre-long waterslide.

Active holidaymakers can choose between hiking trails, running tracks, riding areas and tennis courts. And the Drau Cycle Path, which winds its way across Carinthia, also runs through the municipal area.

Popular destinations are the parish church and Damtschach Castle, the ruined Eichelburg and Hohenwart castles, and the small church on the Sternberg with a wonderful view of the surrounding area.

The perfect spot for nature lovers and birdwatching is the loop in the River Drau near Wernberg.

Wernberg Monastery is also well worth visiting, a place where you can spend a peaceful day far away from everyday stress. Amongst other things the monastery’s own shop sells high quality food products, teas and natural cosmetics produced at the monastery itself or by local farms. The attached training centre is regularly used for presentations, courses, seminars and workshops.

The Slow Trail Monastery Wernberg (2,6 km, ascent 49 m) leads over partly natural paths from the historic 3-story Renaissance building with attached agriculture to an ornithologically interesting area - the Drauschleife.
