Ossiach

The municipality of Ossiach is on the southern side of Lake Ossiacher See, surrounded by the Gerlitzen hiking and skiing mountain and the Ossiacher Tauern.

Ossiach is known above all for the historic Ossiach Abbey, with its Baroque collegiate church. Today the former 11th century Benedictine monastery is a renowned cultural centre and the venue for the Carinthian Summer international music festival. The Carinthian Music Academy (CMA) is also here.

One of the attractions in summer is the Ossiach adventure pool. There are also plenty of options for sporting activities in the form of cycling, mountain biking, riding and hiking in a wonderful natural setting. Thrill seekers should pay a visit to the Ossiacher See climbing wall.

The Alpe-Adria-Trail long-distance hiking trail leads for over 750 kilometres and 43 stages from the Grossglockner via Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy) to the Upper Adriatic.
