Millstatt

The look of Millstatt am See is stamped by romantic villas from the 19th and 20th centuries, summer residences of the aristocracy and well-heeled families which lend the town a wonderful charm and romantic holiday feel.

The style of the first “Carinthian bathhouse”, which was constructed in Millstatt right on the lake and opened in 2012, is also a reminder of those times. Inside, there are state-of-the-art wellness facilities, yet there is still a panoramic view of Lake Millstätter See as well.

The Benedictine monastery with the collegiate church is regarded as one of the most important monuments to Romanesque architecture in Carinthia. A variety of cultural events, such as the Millstatt Music Weeks or the International Guitar Festival, take place in this beautiful setting.

Millstatt is the ideal starting point for a walk along the Via Paradiso or the “Weg der Liebe” - the “Trail of Love”- to the garnet gate, at the highest point on the Millstätter Alpe.

If you want to discover Lake Millstätter See from the water, you can do so with one of the scheduled ferries or on a guided early morning rowing boat tour of the bays.

For golf lovers, the 18-hole golf course in the mountains high above the lake offers a sporting and very hilly challenge. Culinary tip: the “Autumn Tables” on Lake Millstätter See on several dates in September and October which feature different themes, such as a farm table or a garnet table.
