Greifenburg

In Greifenburg in the Upper Drau Valley, nestled between the Kreuzeck Group and the Gailtal Alps, both locals and holidaymakers are guaranteed never to get bored.

In these unspoiled surroundings you will find a great variety of exciting leisure options at any time of year. These include hiking in one of the most beautiful hiking regions in Carinthia with fantastic panoramas, such as on the Greifenburg water trail through the impressive Gnoppnitzklamm gorge, with the Mountain Farmers Museum in Gnoppnitz. You can also try climbing in wild gorges, on unspoiled slopes or in the Greifenburg Climbing Park, where you can swing through the high ropes garden. Or how about canyoning between imposing rock formations and on crystal-clear water? Plus cycling along the River Drau, and jumping into the refreshing water of the Greifenburg swimming lake.

Greifenburg is regarded as one of the best thermal flying areas in Europe, and the flying camp is a popular meeting place for paragliders and hang glider pilots. When you take off from the Emberger Alm you are rewarded with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains, woods and crystal-clear lakes. Amateur pilots can indulge their passion at the nearby model aircraft flying field in Amlach.

In winter the Emberger Alm is a small family ski region, where you can also enjoy cross-country skiing or take romantic winter (snowshoe) hikes.
