Berg im Drautal

In Berg im Drautal in the Nationalpark-Region Hohe Tauern, nature lovers, sports lovers and those seeking peace and quiet will all find just what they are looking for. One of the special attractions in the municipality is Europe’s first Sensopark, which has five sensory and meditative trails alongside the water, through the woodland and in the mountains.

Paragliders and hang glider pilots will also find one of the most attractive and best-known flying areas in the whole of the Eastern Alps on the Emberger Alm. And talking of flying: Berg im Drautal has been a hot spot of the model aircraft scene for years. Hikers can enjoy unspoiled nature on one of the many hiking trails in the Kreuzeck group, water lovers can take a canoe trip on the River Drau, and cyclists can feel the cool wind on their faces on the Drau Cycle Path. And for sustenance there are plenty of hosts along the Drau Cycle Path who will spoil you with fine foods Carinthian-style.

In winter the Emberger Alm is an insiders’ tip for winter sports lovers: a family ski region with ten kilometres of pistes, four lifts, and traditional restaurants and mountain lodges. It is also a popular region for ski tours and snowshoe hikes.

For (amateur) astronomers the unique Emberger Alm holiday observatories at 1,800 metres above sea level in Sattleggers Alpenhof can be recommended. The two observatories offer plenty of space for stargazers, a weatherproof hut with a retractable roof, facilities for guests to store their own telescopes, and refreshments for the long, dark nights beneath the starry skies.
