Visitors are attracted to the market municipality of Frantschach-St. Gertraud all year round by its forests as far as the eye can see, beautiful panoramic views, farm holidays, riding facilities and the Weinebene hiking region.
Paper and cellulose:
The former mining town is today an industrial location of trans-regional importance with the production of paper and cellulose.
From a tourism perspective, the Weinebene with its alpine village is a popular destination for families, not just in summer but in winter too. The region lies at up to 1,900 metres above sea level, and delights downhill and cross-country skiers, snowboarders and tobogganers alike.
The emblem of the municipality is the blast furnace dating from 1848, a historically important industrial monument that was once used for smelting iron.
