Zell-Sele

The small mountain climber village of Zell-Sele lies surrounded by unspoiled nature in a high valley of the Karawanken, 950 metres above sea level.

A gem of nature is the deep blue Freibach reservoir. The crystal-clear, cool water is not only a treat for swimmers, but also offers excellent conditions in and under the water for windsurfers and divers. The exceptional water quality also provides the best requirements for life for the indigenous trout, and anglers are therefore attracted to the trout waters with their brook, rainbow and lake trout, as well as grayling and char.

Hikers’ and mountain climbers’ hearts will beat faster in Zell-Sele. There are also hiking trails of all levels of difficulty here in the mountain landscape of the Karawanken, all of them “equipped” with long-distance views that allow you to forget everything around you. The most important peaks are the Freiberg, Ferlacher Horn, Koschutnikturm, Loibla Baba, Breitwand and Hochobir.

In winter cross-country skiers can enjoy the idyllic, three-kilometre-long Zell-Pfarre panoramic trail, which starts right in the centre of the village alongside the Malle alpine guesthouse.
